Frequently Asked Questions
How can Rake of Spades offer rakeback?
How do bonuses affect rakeback?
- What is the rake?
-
The rake is the money that a poker room takes from the pot of each hand that is played. This is how the poker room makes money. The amount that is taken from each pot is usually about 5% up to $3. This may not sound like a lot, but it adds up to much more than you think over time.
- What is rakeback?
-
Rakeback is a percentage of a player's total contribution to the rake that is given back. Depending on what Rake of Spades offer the player signs up for, this percentage can be up to 35%.
- What are VIP programs?
-
Our VIP offers are similar to our rakeback offers in that the player gets back some of the money that the online poker room collects every hand or tournament. What is different with our VIP offers is the online poker rooms give the players their rewards directly through a loyalty program. Almost every online poker room features a loyalty program, but most cannot compare to our rakeback offers in terms of money given back to the players. Therefore, we only list programs that can truly stack up and give back a significant percentage of the rake that the player generates for the online poker room.
- How can Rake of Spades offer rakeback?
-
We at Rake of Spades are able to offer rakeback because the poker rooms give us a commission for each player that we refer to them. We pass a majority of this commission back to our players and only keep a small percentage. This commission varies from room to room and is the primary factor in the amount of the rakeback that we can offer players that sign up for each offer.
- How will I get paid?
-
Rakeback payments are sent directly to your player account. Each poker room may have restrictions on money transfers. Therefore, we may not be able to send payments for certain pay periods if a player has not net the restrictions. If this is the case, the rebate that was earned will be held over until the next pay period. Specific details are given in each offer description.
- How much will I get paid?
-
That depends on how much you play and the percentage of rakeback for the given offer. The more you play, the more you will get paid. See the chart below or our rakeback calculator to estimate your contribution to the rake and how much you will get back based on limit and number of hands played.
Hands\Stakes $1/$2 $2/$4 $3/$6 $5/$10 $10/$20 $15/$30 1,000 $50 $85 $135 $210 $280 $320 5,000 $250 $425 $675 $1,050 $1,400 $1,600 10,000 $500 $850 $1,350 $2,100 $2,800 $3,200 15,000 $750 $1,275 $2,025 $3,150 $4,200 $4,800 20,000 $1,000 $1,700 $2,700 $4,200 $5,600 $6,400 25,000 $1,250 $2,125 $3,375 $5,250 $7,000 $8,000 Full tables play about 60-80 hands per hour on average, short handed tables play 80-120 hands per hour. So, if you play 10 hours per week at two full $3/6 tables at Full Tilt Poker (1200-1600 hands), you will contribute about $770-930 to the rake per month. With a rebate of 27%, this would earn you $210-250 per month! As you can see, the more you play and the higher the limits you play, the more you will earn. Serious players may play much more than this and will in turn earn much more.
- How do bonuses affect rakeback?
-
Some poker rooms deduct bonuses, possily along with other fees charged to affiliates by the poker rooms, from every player's total rake contribution, but players still get more back with bonuses than without.
For example, say you contribute $500 and redeem $100 in bonus dollars this month at Full Tilt Poker where you get 27% rakeback. Your rakeback payment will be calculated as ($500 - $100) * 27% = $108. In total, you would receive $208 back in rakeback and bonuses.
Had you not redeemed the bonus dollars, your rakeback payment would be calculated as $500 * 27% = $135. It would be a little higher without the bonus, but of course, you wouldn't have the $100 in bonus dollars.
These bonuses and fees are worked into our commissions and it is not our policy deduct them from your total rake contribution, but the individual poker room's. Therefore, we make less money, as well as you get paid less in rakeback when poker rooms offer bonuses (and charge fees). However, you have the advantage of keeping the bonus dollars, so it works out to your benefit in the end to redeem bonuses.
- Will I get credit for tournament entry fees?
-
All of our current offers give players credit for their tournament entry fees.
